How Much FPS Can You Expect Out of an RTX 3070 Gaming PC?

To put it simply, the RTX 3070 gaming PCs are capable of delivering an excellent performance which is enough to run all modern games at 4K resolution pretty easily. For high refresh rate gaming, you can turn the resolution down to 1440p to squeeze the most FPS out of an RTX 3070 prebuilt PC.

This was just the gist of it and behind the scenes, there are a lot of factors that contribute to the high performance of the RTX 3070 prebuilt gaming PCs.

Firstly, the main reason is that the Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card occupies a very interesting position in the market. Although it is placed between the mid-range Nvidia RTX 3060 and the high-end Nvidia RTX 3080, the performance of the RTX 3070 leans more towards the high-end side.

This is the reason, the Nvidia RTX 3070 graphics card is considered a great value for money product because it delivers the best FPS per dollar or in simple words the best performance for your money.

Another reason is that, since Nvidia RTX 3070 mostly comes in top-level PCs, therefore along with this graphics card manufacturers make sure to include other good internal components as well.

If you are curious as to how much FPS a prebuilt gaming PC with RTX 3070 can give you then your curiosity ends now because of the following the average FPS of an RTX 3070 PC.

The PC used for this testing is the Yeyian Yari X21 because this PC is the benchmark for RTX 3070 prebuilt gaming PCs as it has the best performance.

  • Average FPS on 1440p resolution

65 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 75 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 100 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 108 FPS in Fortnite, 118 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 242 FPS in CSGO.

  • Average FPS on 4K resolution

46 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 65 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 67 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 62 FPS in Fortnite, 86 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 190 FPS in CSGO.

Games on both the 1440p as well as the 4K resolution were played at the highest graphic present that each game allowed.

The FPS figures clearly show that RTX 3070 prebuilt PCs can make a fantastic everyday gaming PC. These are ideal PCs if you want a value-to-money 4K gaming experience without breaking the bank.

How We Choose

I am sure you are eager to know how we choose the gaming PCs that are today I am going to review. Well, our criteria is quite simple really. We monitor the prebuilt gaming PC regularly and are on the lookout for new PC releases especially from established brands like Dell, HP, Asus, and Lenovo.

That being said though, a special team is also reserved for finding great value to money gaming PCs from relatively unknown brands that are not yet established in the market. You would be surprised at how often we come across a hidden gem that deserves some love and attention.

Any gaming PC that seems promising is brought to the studio for thorough testing.

How We Test

Our team believes in simplicity therefore our main criteria is to evaluate the everyday useability of the PC and how it holds up for gaming on daily basis. For this purpose, the PC that is to be tested is replaced as our primary gaming computer for a week or two and we are obliged to use it daily.

After using the PC extensively, results are analyzed, and the performance and everyday feasibility of the PC is evaluated. In this time period, the gaming PC is not only fed games but also productivity work, VR gaming, and some light video editing. We do this to get the full picture of what the PC will be to use in the hands of an average consumer.

In-Depth Review

The time has finally come that we dive into the reviews of the RTX 3070 prebuilt PCs you took a glance at earlier.

Best Overall

1. Yeyian Katana X21

PROS

  • Best-in-class gaming performance
  • The latest 12th generation Intel i7 is a great performer
  • High-end components
  • Good connectivity
  • Great aesthetics
  • High-speed NVMe Gen 4 SSD

The Yeyian Katana is an excellent example of how a PC can provide the best gaming experience without being the absolute best in a single given category. This PC features all the latest hardware that the PC industry has to offer and compiles it in a very appealing chassis. The coherent package that this PC provides is second to none which puts it at the top of the RTX 3070 gaming PC chain.

Gaming Experience

I always emphasize the gaming experience aspect of a PC more than anything because while other aspects like specs and aesthetics are important, they don’t affect your daily experience as much as the gaming experience factor.

Every gamer wants a no-nonsense gaming PC that can play any game thrown at it. The Yeyian Katana X21 is one such gaming PC. Due to its gaming prowess, it can pretty much play any modern AAA game you throw at it, and that too at 1440p as well as 4K resolution.

Although you won’t see triple-digit FPS figures on 4K still you will be able to game smoothly without any lag or jitter. During my time, I played all sorts of games on this PC and received a very good framerate throughout. The average FPS was as follows:

All the games on both the 1440p and 4K resolution were played at the maximum graphic preset that each game had to offer.

As you can see, the games I played ran very well on this PC. Almost all games were able to break the 60FPS threshold on 4K resolution while at 1440p resolution we got to see triple-digit FPS meaning that high refresh rate gaming would be possible on this PC.

While we are discussing gaming, I would like to add that this PC also runs VR remarkably well. The fast speed of the PC makes it so that VR games can be played flawlessly.

Specifications

The reason this PC can extract this much performance is because of its top specifications. It features all the latest generation hardware hence no cost-cutting is made in this regard which is not something I can say for most PCs.

Powering the PC is an Intel i7 12700Kf processor. This 12 core 20 thread processor from Intel is the best in its class and easily defeats other 12 cores processors by a long performance margin.

This processor is paired with a Z690 motherboard meaning that if you wanted you could overclock this PC, but I won’t recommend it since this Intel i7 12700KF also draws a lot of power and runs very hot.

To combat this heating issue, Yeyian is using a 120mm AIO liquid cooler in this PC. This AIO liquid cooler is quite efficient in its operation and is able to keep the temperatures of the blazing hot Intel i7 12700KF in check and under 90°C most of the time.

As for the other specification, this PC includes an RTX 3070 graphics card, but you already know that since you are here for a gaming PC with that particular card.

The RAM capacity on this PC is 16GB. The DDR4 RAM installed on this PC runs at 3200MHz. Although having DDR4 RAM is fine, I would have liked to see DDR5 RAM on this PC.

The PC gets its storage from a 1TB NVMe gen 4 SSD. Gen 4 is the latest standard for M2 SSDs and the storage drives using this standard have much higher speeds compared to others.

Powering all these components in every sense of the word is a 650W 80+ gold power supply. It is so good to see that Yeyian has included a high-end power supply unit for this PC.

All things considered; the specification portion is the main highlight of this PC because it contains all the top-of-the-line components. This gives the PC a competitive edge over others on the list that are using previous generation hardware.

Case Design and Connectivity

Yeyian has always brought something interesting to the market with their case designs which makes me quite disappointed to say that the case of this PC looks and feels quite generic.

It is the same glass sandwich design that has been done to death in the industry making the Yeyian Katana X21 just like any other gaming PC you will come across these days.

There is no distinct element in the case design of this PC that may make the Yeyian Katana X21 stand out from the plethora of other gaming PCs.

That being said though, there are certain design characteristics of this glass sandwich design that gamers like which is the reason it is incorporated so often on gaming PCs. The main being having a lot of glass paves the way for having exuberant and blingy RGB lighting.

Although the design may be somewhat disappointing the same cannot be said about the connectivity of this PC. The Yeyian Katana X21 includes all the ports that you may need to connect different gaming peripherals and gadgets to your gaming PC.

The front I/O of the PC includes 3x USB-A ports, a separate 3.5mm jack for Audio and Mic, a button to change the color of RGB lighting, and a power and reset button.

The bulk of the ports are found on the back of the PC, and these include, 6x USB-A ports, 2X USB-C ports, ethernet jack, optical in, audio interface ports for surround sound speaker setups, HDMI, and DisplayPort.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

The Aesthetic of this PC is dominated by RGB lighting. This PC has bright and excessive RGB lighting that covers almost all exterior facets of the PC.

The gamers who prefer RGB lighting will feel right at home with this PC, but truth be told at times having this much RGB lighting can be a little too much.

For these situations this PC allows you to change the color of RGB lighting to a dull solid color like White.

Moving on to the features, and frankly speaking, I wasn’t expecting this much on offer here, but I came out pleasantly surprised.

This PC comes with the latest Wi-Fi 6 built-in. Therefore you don’t have to buy any external dongles or adapters to enjoy a high-quality Wi-Fi connection. I could easily play fast-paced games on Wi-Fi without any lag which shows how good the Wi-Fi connection really is.

Along with the Wi-Fi, you also get Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity built into this PC. This is great as you can connect your favorite pair of Bluetooth headphones or earbuds quite easily.

Yeyian is also taking care of your longevity aspect by pre-installing Windows 11 on the PC. This will save you from the hassle of upgrading Windows down the road.

Another feature of the Yeyian I really like is the 3-year warranty that the manufacturer is providing for the PC. This will bring you some peace of mind especially if it is your first PC purchase. Complimentary to the 3-year warranty you also get lifetime technical support which also comes in handy.

2. CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme

PROS

  • Excellent value for money gaming machine
  • Highly function case with good airflow
  • Unique and distinct aesthetic
  • Good connectivity
  • Built-in Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2
  • Good cable management
  • The AMD Ryzen 9 is a great performer

CONS

  • Only 1TB storage space

CyberPowerPC is no stranger to high-end gaming PCs. They have been providing gaming PCs for a while now, but I believe the Gamer Supreme is their best offering yet. CyberPowerPC has utilized its resources very well and delivered a PC that not only has excellent performance but also holds its own in the aesthetics and features department. Despite a couple of flaws, this PC provides a very compelling package.

Gaming Experience

The CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme makes every penny spent on the PC worthwhile by providing a very good gaming experience. This PC has got everything to keep you satisfied for a longer period of time.

With AMD Ryzen at the helm, this PC has an advantage compared to Intel machines. In PC gaming enthusiast Ryzen powered PCs are increasingly becoming more and more popular compared to Intel.

This is because these PCs can not only game quite well but can also breeze through productivity tasks like video rendering, game streaming, and content creation. This makes PCs like the CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme a very compelling all-purpose system.

During my time with the PC, I found this claim to be quite true and the PC was able to play any game I threw at it and cope with any demanding task with relative ease. I played various games on this PC and consistently got good FPS. The average framerate in games was as follows.

  • Average FPS On 1440p resolution

57 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 71 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 93 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 92 FPS in Fortnite, 115 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 240 FPS in CSGO.

  • Average FPS on 4K resolution

42 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 63 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 60 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 62 FPS in Fortnite, 80 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 178 FPS in CSGO.

All the FPS figures you are seeing were obtained at the maximum graphic setting that each game had to offer.

Although the FPS figures are slightly worse when compared to the Intel 12th generation gaming PCs with RTX 3070, the difference is not that noticeable, and the gaming experience is not that different.

This PC plays all the games very smoothly and gives over 60 FPS in most games so the gaming experience here is comparable to the Yeyian Katana X21. Since the gaming experience is quite the same, this PC also runs VR great.

Specifications

The CyberPower gaming PC has a lot going for it in the specification department. Not only does it feature a 12 core 24 thread Ryzen 9 5900X processor but also pairs it up with a beefy cooling solution to extract the most amount of power from the Ryzen processor.

The 12 Ryzen also blows through pretty much most games and tasks you throw at it but with a proper cooling mechanism at the helm, it even provides more performance than you will ever need.

Still though for gaming, the 12th generation Intel processor has this processor beat by a slight margin, this Ryzen handsomely beats them in productivity tasks like content creation and streaming.

To improve cooling this PC not only has a beefy AIO liquid cooler but the front panel is also made up entirely of mesh material which allows for air to pass through. This amps the airflow of the case and provides proper ventilation.

As for the other specification, this PC has 16GB DDR4 RAM which is running at a clock speed of 3200MHz. The storage here also comes in the form of the latest 1TB Gen 4 M2 NVME SSD which is quite faster compared to older M2 drives in data transfer speeds.

Case Design and Connectivity

I love what CyberPower has done with the case design of this PC. Rather than embracing the no airflow trend by having glass sandwiched cases CyberPower has gone the other way around.

The front panel of the case is entirely made from mesh materials and has small slights incorporated into its design. This allows for the undisturbed flow of air into the PC case. An increase in airflow means that the PC can maintain much better temperatures when operating at the maximum limit.

Besides the slits in the front panel, there are also multiple other ventilation ports scattered throughout the case for airflow. This attention to unrestrictive airflow makes this PC one of the best thermally performing machines out of the lot.

I also have to give full credit to CyberPower for having top-notch cable management. In most prebuilt gaming PCs, I see cables dangling and unorganized which not only impacts the look of the PC but can also be the cause of any electric mishap. Therefore, it is quite nice to see that CyberPower has paid attention to the cable management part.

Talking about cables, the connectivity of this PC is very well executed. All the ports that gamers may require on a daily basis are present here.

The only connectivity drawback of this PC is that it does not contain a USB-C port on the front besides that there is not much to complain about.

As for the ports themselves this PC contains 2X USB-A ports, separate 3.5mm ports for Audio and Mic, a button to change the color of RGB lighting, and a power button on the front of the case.

While on the back of the case additional USB-A ports, USB-C port, HDMI, DisplayPort, ethernet jack, and audio interface ports for connecting surround sound speakers are located.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

This PC is distinct and unique which is quite hard to find these days in prebuilt gaming PCs. Gladly, CyberPower has not followed the latest industry trend but delivered a PC they thought looked good.

The RGB lighting is present here, but it is not too over the top like other PCs. The lighting has enough presence that it adds character to the PC rather than occupying the center stage.

The gun-metal finish of the PC is also very striking and is a breath of fresh air because all I have been seeing lately are either black or white gaming PCs.

All in all, the CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme is a very aesthetically appealing PC but not for its flashiness or blinginess.

Moving onto the features next, I am pleased to report that all the features of this PC are associated with practicality hence you are getting plagued with gimmicks here.

The most beneficial feature of this PC is the inclusion of the latest Wi-Fi 6 built into the machine. This means that you can enjoy a high-quality Wi-Fi connection right off the bat, and you don’t need to buy any external Wi-Fi adapter or dongle.

Bundled with the Wi-Fi, comes Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. Like the Wi-Fi, the Bluetooth connectivity also works quite well on this PC, and I had no trouble pairing the Sony WH-1000XM4 to this PC.

Last but not the least, with this PC you are covered with a 1-year warranty. Along with the warranty, you are also getting lifetime technical support with your purchase.

Compact Pick

3. CUK Stratos Micro

PROS

  • Relatively lightweight and compact
  • 240mm AIO liquid cooler maintains low temperatures
  • Good gaming performance
  • Highly functional case design with good airflow
  • 32GB RAM is more than enough for gaming

CONS

  • Older generation Intel processor
  • Lackluster connectivity

The CUK Stratos Micro Gaming Desktop is the most premium RTX 3070 gaming PC you can buy. This PC embodies the luxury aspect to the max and features stuff that you won’t expect on a normal gaming PC. To go along with the blingy and extravagant nature of the PC, the hardware components inside the machine are also top-notch. This PC presents itself as a very strong package and there aren’t many drawbacks associated with the CUK Stratos Micro except of course the high price tag.

Gaming Experience

CUK has not held back in giving the Stratos Micro Gaming Desktop all the muster for their premium gaming PC. Therefore, the gaming experience of this PC is very good.

During my time with the PC, the PC held up fantastically and I had no complaints with the performance of this PC whatsoever. It ran all the games I wanted to play reasonably well and was also able to cope with some light rendering and video editing.

I played all sorts of various games on this PC, and the average frame rate I observed was as follows:

  • Average FPS On 1440p resolution

54 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 66 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 86 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 91 FPS in Fortnite, 109 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 248 FPS in CSGO.

  • Average FPS on 4K resolution

40 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 62 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 64 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 61 FPS in Fortnite, 74 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 185 FPS in CSGO.

Games on both the 1440p as well as the 4K resolution were running at the max graphic settings that were available for each game.

These FPS figures clearly indicate that the performance of this PC falls somewhere between the gaming desktops containing the 12th generation Intel i7 and the AMD Ryzen 9 5900.

Specification

CUK has not held back in the specification department with this Stratos Micro Gaming Desktop. Being a premium offering this PC has the top components that were available in the market at the time of the release of this PC.

At the heart of the PC, powering the machine is an 11th generation Intel i9 11900K processor. This 8 core 16 thread processor is not the latest from the brand but does hold up quite well even despite being a generation older.

The gaming performance is not an area where there is much of a difference between the 11th and the 12th generation Intel i9, but you will surely feel a major difference when it comes to the productivity tasks like game streaming or VR. This is due to this processor having only 8 cores while the 12th generation Intel i9 has 12 cores.

Regardless of the performance difference, you won’t get any performance if the processor isn’t cooled properly. To provide an efficient cooling solution, this PC has a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. This AIO liquid cooler keeps the temperature of the CPU in check, and I never observed the temperature crossing the 90°C mark when gaming.

Due to the compact footprint having an AIO liquid cooler means that you get a much easier time accessing the 4 RAM slots. By factory, this PC comes with 32GB RAM which is more than enough for gaming and everyday PC use. However, if later down the line an upgrade is required then you can add more RAM quite easily.

The same is the case with the storage. This PC comes with two storage drives. One is a 512 GB NVME SSD while the other is a 2TB HDD. The total storage capacity of this PC is therefore 2.5TB but if you want to increase the storage space then you can add in another storage drive quite easily.

Case Design and Connectivity

The case of the CUK Stratos Micro gaming PC is a nice mix of some contemporary styling along with some modern design twists to give them just that extra bit of flare which is lacking in most gaming desktops.

CUK has nicely played around with the glass theme case design of this PC. Like other gaming PCs in this day and age, the CUK Stratos also has a glass sandwiched design but the way the design is pulled off here is quite different compared to other gaming desktops.

I also like the fact that this PC, despite having glass panels all around, has proper air ventilation. The front panel glass is slightly moved forward which allows for air channels behind the glass to function.

Similarly, on the top of the case, you will also find a proper ventilation grill with a supplied magnetic dust filter. Most PCs are dust filters, but this takes that concept up a notch by having a magnetic dust filter.

Unlike the case design, CUK has also not done a great job with the connectivity of this PC. There are quite a lot of missed opportunities with the connectivity of this PC. Although the ports are in this PC at accessible locations, CUK missed out on some very important ports which cannot be compensated for.

Firstly, I would have liked to see a couple more USB Type-A ports on the front of the PC than the only two that we have now. Also, the addition of a USB Type-C port on the front would have been ideal. As things stand, the front connectivity of the case is rather shallow, so you have to resort often to using the backports.

The backports on this PC include HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C, ethernet jack, additional USB Type-A ports, and audio outputs.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

The aesthetic of this PC is dominated by RGB lighting. There are a total of 6 RGB fans in this PC which is the highest out of any PC on this list. The fans make sure to illuminate every inch of the case.

The glass panels also enhance the effect of the RGB lighting. That being said due to this PC having tinted tempered glass the RGB lighting does not come off as overly bright or blingy which is something I prefer.

This not only takes unwanted attention off the RGB lighting but also helps to align the look of the RGB lighting with the rest of the PC. The fact that RGB lighting plays a major role in the aesthetic of this PC still doesn’t change and if you are someone who likes RGB lighting then you are going to enjoy the look of this PC.

In the aesthetic department, I also have to applaud CUK for having done a fantastic cable management job with this PC. This is the area where most other manufacturers skimp out on but not CUK. They have neatly tucked away all the wires which make the inside of the case look very neat and clean.

In terms of salient features, there isn’t much on offer here. This is disappointing because being a premium gaming desktop I expect this PC to have more features than it does now.

Most of the features that this PC contains are related to practicality. Firstly, it includes built-in Wi-Fi 6 connectivity hence alleviating you from the need of buying separate dongles and adapters to enjoy high-quality Wi-Fi.

The signal strength and reception of this PC are next to none and the internet speed over Wi-Fi is also fantastic. Similarly, the Bluetooth connectivity featured here also works very well and over my time with the PC it didn’t even fail me once. Everything I tried, connected seamlessly on this PC.

4. Skytech Chronos

PROS

  • Very practical case design
  • Excellent airflow
  • Unique and distinct aesthetic
  • Decent connectivity
  • The latest generation Ryzen processor is very efficient

CONS

  • Lack of features
  • No AIO liquid cooler

The Skytech Chronos is one of the finest desktop gaming machines that Skytech makes. They have given this PC proper care and attention and therefore this PC comes equipped with the very latest CPU that AMD has to offer. Along with having the latest components, special attention is also paid to the airflow of this PC. To fulfill this purpose, this PC has a unique design that dictates much of its aesthetics. Despite a few shortcomings, the SkyTech Chronos is a good all-around package.

Gaming Experience

The gaming experience is one aspect where all the other characteristics of a gaming desktop come together therefore it is the most important metric by which a gaming PC is measured.

When it comes to Skytech Chronos, this PC is no slouch when compared to the competition and despite being on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of price, the gaming experience you are getting here is quite good and similar to other PCs.

Of course, that is mainly due to the fact that all gaming desktops on this list share the same RTX 3070 graphics card. In my time with the PC, I was able to effortlessly play any games on the PC without any trouble. Not only that but the PC also managed to be a good daily driver due to its fast speed.

During gaming, the average frame rate that I got in various games is as follows:

  • Average FPS On 1440p resolution

50 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 65 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 91 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 84 FPS in Fortnite, 108 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 240 FPS in CSGO.

  • Average FPS on 4K resolution

39 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 50 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 62 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 51 FPS in Fortnite, 76 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 160 FPS in CSGO.

To obtain the aforementioned FPS numbers all the games were played at the maximum graphic present that each game allowed on both the 1440p as well as the 4K resolution.

Granted the FPS figures of this PC are the lowest out of all the other gaming PCs in this list but if you examine closely the gaming experience is not all that different on 1440p. On this resolution, you will feel the same smoothness when playing games on this PC as compared to others on the list.

Things however change on 4K resolution. On this resolution many games on this PC dip below the 60FPS mark which hurts the smoothness of the games. Therefore, games on 4K resolution are playable but you would have a hard time dealing with lag and jitter.

Specifications

The Skytech Chronos has its priorities down when it comes to specifications. This PC has the latest AMD Ryzen 5600x processor at its core. The Ryzen 5600X is a 6 core 12 thread making it the processor with the least core count out of all other gaming PCs on the list.

Despite the low core count, this processor delivers amazing performance and can easily run all the latest games. This is quite obvious from the FPS figures mentioned above. The advantage you get with having a low core count processor is that it generates less compared to a processor with 8 or more core counts.

Since heat is the major roadblock in the performance and the longevity of a PC, therefore, having less heat generated by this processor is somewhat favorable. This also means that Skytech Chronos didn’t really need an AIO liquid cooler for optimal heat dissipation.

This is the reason, the stock cooler on this PC works quite well and is effective in maintaining good control over the CPU temperature. I never saw the processor thermal throttle under load which is a great sign of the effectiveness of the cooler.

Apart from the low core count processor, other specifications of this PC are right in-line with other gaming desktops in this price range. This PC comes with 16 GB DDR4 RAM which is running at the clock speed of 3200MHz.

If 16GB is not enough for you then you can easily upgrade the RAM because the motherboard on this PC has 4 total RAM slots out of which 2 RAM slots are not populated.

The same is the case with the storage, the PC comes with a 1TB GEN 4 NVME SSD drive. 1TB storage space may feel a little restrained when storing a lot of games but the good thing is that adding another storage drive into this PC is relatively easy.

Case Design and Connectivity

The design of the case is mainly dictated by the large front mesh grill. This mesh grill allows for an unrestricted flow of air into the PC case. Taking advantage of this grill Skytech has installed 3x RGB case fans on the front of the case behind this mesh grill.

I also like the fact that this grill has a dust filter behind it. The function of the grill is to stop any dust particles from clogging up the internals of the PC. Likewise, a similar dust filter is also installed on the top of the PC where the other case fan is positioned.

Moving back to the design of the case, the rest of the design is like you would expect from a gaming tower. a glass window at the side, a large PSU shroud, and feet to lift up the PC from the desk.

In terms of connectivity, I am pleased to report that this PC is giving you access to all the essential ports that are needed in this day and age. At the front of the PC, you will find 3x USB Type-A ports, a button to change the color of RGB lighting, separate 3.5mm jacks for audio and mic, and a power button.

The bulk of the connectivity ports are found at the back of the PC, and these include HDMI, DisplayPort, ethernet jack, multiple 3.5mm audio ports for connecting surround sound speaker systems, additional USB-A ports, and a USB-C port.

While I do like the fact that all ports are included here, it would have been better if the USB-C ports were relocated at the front of the PC. Having only a single USB-C port and that too at the back of the PC is not convenient at all.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

While the aesthetic is a subjective matter, I believe the Skytech Chronos deserves full marks in this segment. This PC looks and feels very premium.

The use of the mesh grill for the front of the PC not only adds a sense of uniqueness but also gives the front of the PC a rustic un-refined look. This look is much welcomed since most of the other manufacturers are only playing with glass front panels.

The mesh grill also dulls the RGB lighting. Now don’t get me wrong the RGB lighting is still the front and center of the aesthetics but having some edge taken off the RGB lighting eliminates the over flashy and blingy nature of it.

Therefore, compared to other glass front panel PCs, the RGB lighting on this looks more toned down and less in your face which is definitely a look that I find works better in most situations.

Moving onto the salient features of the PC next and here you are not getting many features. The PC just includes the most essential ones so that it doesn’t fall behind the competition.

The PC comes with pre-built-in Wi-Fi connectivity but the Wi-Fi here is not running the latest 6E technology like other PCs on the list. That said though, the Wi-Fi of this PC works great but that specification difference cannot be ignored.

Similarly, on that topic, this PC does come with built-in Bluetooth connectivity but that too is running on the older generation technology. In working it works well, but the signal is not as stable over long distances as other gaming desktops on this list.

This pretty much wraps up the feature segment because there isn’t any other noteworthy feature worth highlighting. Overall, this PC is quite limited on the features that you are getting.

The ROG Strix lineup from Asus is the best that the company has to offer and despite that, the ROG products represent great value for money. The Asus ROG Strix GA15DK is a very unique and distinct gaming desktop that packs in an impressive performance for the price. Although being the cheapest on the list the PC still offers compelling features, but it isn’t without its flaws.

Gaming Experience

The Asus ROG GA15DK costs $300-500 less than other gaming PCs on this list. Despite the difference in the price tag after using the PC I cannot say that the gaming experience you are getting here is in any way representative of the price tag.

This PC manages to hold up with other gaming machines because it doesn’t compromise the performance and the quality aspect.

Asus has done a tremendous job by cutting costs in areas that don’t have a huge impact on the gaming experience thus the reason why despite being cheaper this PC can provide a very similar gaming experience to the more expensive ones on the list.

Like the other PCs, I also tested this PC with various games and after the test run the average FPS results were as follows:

  • Average FPS on 1440p resolution

50 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 61 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 77 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 90 FPS in Fortnite, 106 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 239 FPS in CSGO.

  • Average FPS on 4K resolution

37 FPS in Microsoft Flight Simulator, 58 FPS in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, 60 FPS in Forza Horizon 5, 62 FPS in Fortnite, 70 FPS in CoD Warzone, and 170 FPS in CSGO.

All the games on both the 1440p as well as 4K resolution were played at the maximum graphic settings to obtain the aforementioned FPS numbers.

The above FPS figures are indicative of the fact that this PC is a very good performer and when compared with other gaming PCs that are on the list, the FPS numbers here are not that different.

Specifications

The Asus GT15 puts forth a very strong set of specifications for its competitors to beat. The PC is powered by an 11th generation Intel i7 11700f processor. Despite being a generation older this processor still to this day is holding up fine in terms of performance.

As is clear from the FPS figures of this PC, this processor is only marginally slower than the AMD Ryzen 5900 and the 12th generation Intel i7 12700kf. Therefore, the general performance you are getting in games is very similar.

The 11th generation Intel i7 11700K is an 8 core 16 thread processor running at the clock speed of 4.9Ghz. This means that when gaming this processor can get pretty toasty therefore to keep this processor from overheating a good cooling system is required.

For cooling purposes, this PC uses an air cooler rather than a liquid cooler. This is a compromise that is necessary to keep the price of the PC down. Although the air cooler is not as effective as an AIO liquid cooler, the cooling performance is not that far off.

The air cooler still manages to keep the temperature of the processor relatively low. I only experienced thermal throttling in very demanding tasks like rendering or CPU benchmarks. For gaming, the temperatures remained under 90°cc and no throttling was observed throughout.

Moving onto the other specifications, the Asus ROG Strix GT15 comes with 16GB DDR4 RAM running at the clock speed of 3200Mhz. 16GB RAM is the standard for gaming desktops around the $2000 price tag so no issues here.

The storage of this PC however is quite limiting. Although the PC comes with not only a fast 512GB NVME SSD but also has a 1TB HDD for mass storage. These two storage drives only add to a total storage capacity of 1.5TB which is on the shorter side.

Case Design and Connectivity

The main problem with the case design of prebuilt gaming desktops is that most have generic cases that you would find in substandard PCs. If I am paying upwards of $1500, I expect a case that looks only looks unique but also has distinct practical features that make it stand out from the crowd.

The Asus ROG Strix GT15 solves that issue with a case design that for the lack of a better word is best-in-class. Not only has Asus managed to carve a very distinct design for its case but has also gifted gamers with very practical design elements.

Upfront is a mesh grill with a threaded pattern. This grill while adding to the uniqueness of the case also functions as a ventilation slot for the air.

You will also find a similar pattern repeated at the top of the case and also at the back of the case. Together, this ventilation allows for unrestricted airflow and hence helps in keeping the temperature of the PC relatively low.

Another design element of the case that cannot be ignored is the inclusion of a grab handle at the top of the case. The case of this PC is made primarily out of metal and therefore has quite a bit of heft. The inclusion of a grab handle is a very thoughtful addition and makes the tedious task of moving this heavy case rather easy.

The price you have to pay for the unique design is the cut down on some connectivity ports. This PC does have enough ports to get you through your normal daily use, but you might encounter some trouble when connecting more than 2 peripherals because at the front of the PC you only get 2 USB-A ports.

There is also no USB-C port at the front of the PC. Although there is one at the back, reaching that USB-C port is not that convenient, so bear in mind that any gadget with the said connection type will require the use of a USB Type-A to Type-C dongle.

Aesthetics and Salient Features

When it comes to aesthetics, the Asus ROG Strix GT15 is one good-looking machine. It has a distinct charm surrounding its aesthetics which makes the PC stand out from its competitors.

The main aspect which gives the PC its aesthetical advantage is the case. The unique shape of the case contains different cuts, body lines, and angles integrated into the design making for a striking look.

The implementation of RGB lighting is also done in a subtle yet effective manner. Rather than loading the PC with RGB lighting, the RGB here is concentrated around small sectors.

The first is the LED strip at the front of the case. The second RGB comes in the form of the 3x RGB fans that illuminate the interior of the PC. This implementation of RGB lighting looks tasteful and rather than being the center stage of aesthetics enhances the look of the already striking case.

Moving on to the salient next, this PC contains many practical features that are sure to enhance your gaming experience with the PC.

Firstly, this PC comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity right out of the box. The Wi-Fi of this PC works flawlessly and throughout my time with the PC I never encountered any signal loss. I even played fast-paced FPS games like Valorant without facing any lag.

Secondly, with the Wi-Fi, you are also getting built-in Bluetooth connectivity. The Bluetooth also functions as it should and I was able to connect a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones without any trouble.

Last, you are getting full warranty coverage with this PC for up to 1 year. Knowing that it is Asus, the after-sales support of this PC is also very good.
